Getting started

  1. Create your profile and choose Serious or Roasting mode.
  2. Set a safe spend target so the app can flag overspending fast.
  3. Pick your top three focus areas and let tasks build around them.
  4. Invite a trusted friend if you want accountability.

Account and security

  • Use a unique password and update it regularly.
  • Review active sessions in Settings and sign out old devices.
  • Enable extra verification if prompted by suspicious activity.
  • Delete your account any time from Settings.

Troubleshooting sign-in

  • Make sure your email is verified and typo free.
  • Clear cookies for bankrupt.life and try again.
  • If you are locked out, contact support for a reset.

Connecting accounts (Plaid)

  • Linking is optional. You can use the app without connecting a bank.
  • If a bank fails to connect, try again from a desktop browser.
  • Multi-factor prompts must be completed within the Plaid window.
  • Disconnect at any time from Settings and we will stop syncing.

Privacy controls

  • Everything is private by default until you switch it to public.
  • Review social visibility, follow settings, and message permissions.
  • Manage AI privacy mode in Settings to limit data exposure.
  • Read the full policy on the privacy page.

Marketplace help

  • Use clear photos, pricing, and condition notes on every listing.
  • Keep communication inside the app for better dispute handling.
  • Ship with tracking and upload proof when requested.
  • Escrow releases only after confirmation or dispute resolution.

Safety and reporting

  • Report harassment, fraud, or unsafe behavior from the message menu.
  • Never share passwords, full account numbers, or codes.
  • Use escrow for marketplace transactions and keep a paper trail.
